Tweddell and Slater were appointed by the client to be the consulting civil and structural engineers for the renovation and extension of this traditional Lakeland farmhouse. The large extension comprised a green oak timber frame with steel floor beams, fully glazed gable, feature scissor trusses and exposed tie bracing and was designed in collaboration with Carpenter Oak. We also designed the fully glazed steel framed link and detailed the restoration works to the original timber trusses and farmhouse structure.
Extensive drainage, groundworks and landscaping works were designed for the site and we have since aided in the installation of a feature glasshouse on the sloped garden, designing the groundworks and base structure.
This project was one of the first in the company to be completely modelled using Autodesk Revit software, which enabled us to collaborate more effectively with the architects, Architecture 519.
