Civil engineering

Heritage and conservation
We have years of experience in specifying appropriate repairs, assisting with renovations and conversions and carrying out inspections of historic buildings and structures across the UK.

We have many years of experience carrying out structural condition assessments of historic buildings, from undesignated, empty barns to listed homes and religious buildings.

We are able to assess existing foundations to determine adequacy for development, or understand potential causes of structural movement. Particularly useful for barn conversions where the depth of new floor slabs can undermine foundations.

We have years of experience of designing alterations and conversions for historic buildings, with a focus on the local Lake District vernacular.
As well as being able to assist with the conservation of historic buildings, we are also able to provide a range of expertise for projects, including temporary works design, geotechnical support and drainage and pavement design.
